Have you read C.T. Russell's controversial view of "new light"?
by Island Man in"if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: but with god there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from god must be like its author.
a new view of truth never can contradict a former truth.
new light never extinguishes older light, but adds to it.

It never happened. There is zero evidence for it, nada, zip.
It's just narrative and story telling and politico/religious backfilling to a predetermined end point.

Watch as JWs are 'educated' by their 'bible student' about evolution, abiogenesis, Watchtower quote mining, etc. LOL.

That man evolved from apes is a creationist fallacy, and you spouting it is a sure sign of your ignorance of the subject.

Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

BOTR- Announcement
by Band on the Run inlaw school is obviously not the hardest program to follow.
it isn't something that can be replicated on the internet.
a first year student can find the law.

Are the gospels just midrash?
by yadda yadda 2 insome responses to this common claim gleaned from internet sources;.
the idea the gospels are simply midrash has several problems associated with it.
one is that the genre as such did not exist yet in judaism as the midrashim are a few centuries later.

Yadda, you didnt think much of Bart Erhman back then, and Leo didnt give her opinion on him that I could see in a quick skim thru (i was hoping she would)...
Has your opinion of him changed now? Anyone else think poorly of his work?
I ask because I rate him, but am well aware of how easy it is to fall into the trap of confirmation bias and I am trying to avoid doing that these days.

Can we Depend on Eye-witness accounts?
by fulltimestudent ina lot of trust is placed on human memory.
not just in legal cases and criminal trials, but also as evidence that certain things spoken of in the bible are true, because eye-witnesses attest to seeing these events.. but, could that trust be misplaced.
consider this research:.

Interesting article on Biblical accuracy
by Jon Preston inappearance of camels in genesis called sign of authors' distance from history.biblical scholars have long been aware many of the stories and accounts in the sacred book were not written by eyewitnesses, and according to new research, further evidence of that historical distance has appeared in the form of a hump-backed camel.. new research using radioactive-carbon dating techniques shows the animals weren't domesticated until hundreds of years after the events documented in the book of genesis.the research was published by erez ben-yosef and lidar sapir-hen, archaeologists from tel aviv university in israel.
they believe camels were not domesticated in the eastern mediterranean until the 10th century b.c.. and yet, the hump-backed creatures are mentioned repeatedly alongside abraham, jacob and isaac, indicating the bible's writers and editors were portraying what they saw in their present as how things looked in the past, says a new york times article by john noble wilford:.
these anachronisms are telling evidence that the bible was written or edited long after the events it narrates and is not always reliable as verifiable history.

Ah, but DJS we all KNOW that anyone who dares tread a middle ground and is not seen to scream for blood and fire is a closet pedophile, a pedophile enabler or or ... worse!
Some of the sick minds here have already made those calculations and insinuated as much and if they knew where you lived would be forwarding plots of medieval retribution.
These threads have been a low point in my time here.
